Sa’adat Discusses Elecomp Challenges, Improvements

Naser Ali Sa’adat, head of Iran’s ICT Guild Organization, talked about the challenges and improvements associated with holding the annual Iran International Exhibition of Electronics, Computers and E-Commerce (Elecomp) in an interview with ITMen.

The official, whose organization has coordinated the Elecomp exhibition for the last three years, says the guild has managed to make essential and tangible improvements on Iran’s biggest event in the field of information and communication technology.
The official told ITMen daily in an exclusive interview that his organization is looking to establish Elecomp as a major event that would measure up to the biggest shows in the industry.
“There are major, credible exhibitions in the world with their own style in terms of the booth and they don’t get major overhauls every year. It helps with the constancy and character of exhibits. But their organizers have carried out detailed planning to maintain quality and numbers. Iran’s ICT Guild Organization has come up with a scheme of its own to enhance Elecomp in the long term,” said the official.
According to Sa’adat, domestic disputes have significantly attenuated since the guild took charge of Elecomp’s planning and organization.
“Another issue has been addressing ambiguities regarding the purchase of booth space and rial/dollar payments. We have made concerted efforts to increase transparency.
“The security team of the exhibition has maintained effective collaboration with the organizers. Traffic has been another lingering issue over the years which has been alleviated by rescheduling Elecomp for the first half the (fiscal) year.”
Elecomp exhibitions were traditionally held in fall, which coincides with the opening of schools and heavier traffic across the sprawling capital. Sa’adat said that shifting the date of the exhibition has also allowed Elecomp to use more capacity as no other exhibition will be held on between July 21-24. “We needed more space. Elecomp needed much more than 20,000 square meters,” he noted. Elecomp 2017 is reportedly being held in an area of around 32,000 sq. meters.
The exhibition will be underway until July 24 at Tehran International Permanent Fairground.According to the official, Elecomp is planned to be held at the same time every year, a move that would help companies have a better vision of their annual plans that includes booking at Elecomp.
“There will be no change in the date of the exhibition. It will be held at the same time in the coming years. The date has the approval of the ICT Guild Organization. Nevertheless, our options were limited,” he said.
