Plan to Increase Foreign Participation at Elecomp

Mohammad Servati, a member of the organizing and executive committee of Elecomp exhibition, says the committee has conducive plans to increase foreign participation at the annual ICT event in the next several years.

“There was little time to reach out to international companies and industry players. But we have thorough plans to attract foreign companies and investors to Elecomp.
The International Exhibition of Electronics, Computers and E-Commerce, known as Elecomp, is hailed as the biggest ICT show in the region. The previous edition of the exhibition was held last fall and organizers decided to reschedule Elecomp 2017 to summer in a move that considerably shortened the gap between the two exhibitions.
Officials also say that Elecomp is not a particular area of interest for many giant ICT companies because many of them are not directly active in Iran’s market.
According to experts, lower traffic in the schools’ off-season in summer eases access to Tehran International Permanent Fairground, the traditional site of the Elecomp.
Servati also pointed to unprecedentedly high crowds of visitors Elecomp 2017, but said that that insufficient infrastructure only allows for an estimation of the number of visitors.
“Despite the hot temperatures this summer, estimates show that the number of visitors has risen by around 70% compared to the previous year,” Servati noted. Tehran has been hit by scorching heatwaves and blistering temperatures this year.
The exhibition is organized by Iran’s ICT Guild Organization in an area of 60,000 square meters, some 32,000 sq. meters of which are usable.
