RighTel CEO Censures Opponents

Not Playing Fair by Dumping

CEO of RighTel, the 3rd mobile phone network operator of Iran, criticized dumping, a pricing policy in mobile data services, by other operators in the market.

“Mobile Telecommunication Company of Iran and MTN Irancell, the first and second leading operators in the country are can offer their customers 3G internet, but what is allowed at national roaming for RighTel users is actually 2G,” said Seyyed Majid Sadri at a press conference at the 22nd edition of the International Exhibition of Electronics, Computer and E-Commerce (Elecomp 2016), Fanavaran reported.
Dumping, a kind of predatory pricing, whose purpose is sometimes to increase market share in a foreign market or to drive out competition.
Sadri also censured the cumbersome procedures of the mobile Number transportability plan and said a large number of the clientele get frustrated and change their minds half-way through the process.
“We have reported these problems to the regulatory body, and expect easier pathways for people to change their operating servers,” he stressed, adding that in spite of existing regulations regarding the issues, nothing concrete has been done so far. “There must be a healthy competition in the field,” he said.
